Using GPS in farming is All Right
I’ve been reading The Walrus magazine a lot lately since I got a digital subscription for my iPad. I won’t go into detail about the magazines themselves but for those who aren’t familiar with it they off a broad spectrum of stories from the local and person to the strange and insightful.
Something that caught my eye the other day while reading an article on farming in Canada was how elegantly the...

Writing for the benefit of cheaters: A scholarly...
The business of writing scholarly papers for cheating students is ramping up at this time of year as we approach the end of term for most higher education institutions. And surprisingly (maybe not to those with experience in the field), few students, and even fewer “ghost writers” get caught doing it.
I work hard for a living. I’m nice to people. But I understand that in simple...

Paul J. Chambers losses his Twitter case (and a...
“Robin Hood Airport is closed,” Mr. Chambers, then 26 and a financial supervisor, said to his 690 followers [on Twitter], who included the woman, known on Twitter as @crazycolours. “You’ve got a week to get your [expletive] together, otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!”
For those who never heard about Paul Chambers’ story, his tweet cost him $4,800 in fines. During the case, the...

– Tony Bradley in an Open letter to facebook.
He goes on to talk about how fb likes to introduce new interfaces and features, which lately were ‘opt-in’-by-default, without warning.
With this business model, Facebook gets the same net result—half a billion users freely sharing personal...

Black on white.
For Christmas I was given a bottle of Sheaffer Scrip black ink for my Lamy fountain pen. I hadn’t given it a try until last week, but now that I have I might not go back to my old stuff!
This black ink is very nice and flows out just the right amount to not bleed on regular everyday paper. I’m not worried about it coming through on the other side either. It’s also thin enough...

Last night Juno awards were given out to a handful of great canadian artists. Several of my favourite canadian groups were recognized at this year’s Gala dinner including:
Billy Talent for Rock Album of the Year. I love how one of my favourite CBC radio personalities, Jian Gomeshi, presented the award. Billy beat out Nickelback, Tragically Hip, Alexisonfire and Three Days Grace for the...

Hi, I'm an iPhone. And I'm a BB.
Looks to me like the BlackBerry is looking to shed its only-for-work and not-for-fun image and is finally useable for fun too! :P
Over the past week RIM’s official Twitter app has been releases on the BB store for free (http://www.blackberry.com/twitter) aswell as the new Tumblr app (http://tumblr.com/xha8j60va). Now you can get off those shoddy third party Twitter apps that don’t know geotagging...

Finding Kosher Coke
Did you know that you can find Kosher Coca-Cola? It’s identifiable by its distinctive yellow cap. It was the result of work done by Rabbi Tobias Geffen who was asked to help make Coke kosher back in the 1930s.
To produce Coca-Cola the chemical glycerol is used to help the flavour remain evenly spread throughout the soda. Glycerol is made with rendered animal fat and there’s no way to...

Proper hashtag #use #on #Twitter
Social media and networks tends to be on the bleeding edge of bleeding edge of new ideas, trends, words/jargon, etc. So many of our newest expressions and jokes often find their beginnings on the internet in social arenas. The reason it works is because a lot of people hear/see it and begin passing it around their own circles. This is one of the great things about the information age! What grinds...

I've started a trend... (2/2)
To conclude my post about my whole dorm blogging I’ll list the girls:
Our obligatory-by-Vancouver-sterotype asian girl Emily - Little Chinese Girl from Scarborough.
Ok, so maybe she isn’t actually from Vancouver, but she is little! Her oriental-ness can also be humorous. Upon looking at her page though, looks like it’s getting a little stale. But that’s not to say I...

I've started a trend... (1/2)
As a Tumblr user, I can understand what makes it so appealing and fun to blog here, but to have the majority of my residence to hop on board is pretty nutty. It’s like the next “vinyl revival” over here.
Unfortunately it might not last as long as the LP craze, but better they all take a shot at tumblogging for a day than not doing it at all! I’m sure some will continue to...

Finally got them!
I’ve been wanting a pair of Fluevog shoes for a long time. Years. As much as I love all of his crazy stlyes, they’re difficult to pull off for general style. That is until this year.
One of the new lines this year is the “Public radio” shoes. In it he has three public radio stations: CBC, BBC and NPR (American). They’re beautiful shoes and finally something I can...

Pure energy and love in a cup!
Tropical fruit smoothie
One whole banana
1/4 mango (sliced)
Blueberries
Strawberries
Pineapple
1/8 cup of vanilla flavoured protein powder
A drop of vanilla extract
Strawberry kiwi juice
I tend to have this everyday in the summer on my drive to work. Isn’t too heavy, full of energy, and tastes amazing. It’s also better in the summer because of the access to fresher fruit...

1. Limit your friends...
The world wants that attention. Only you can decide where it goes.
And it does determine the shape of your life: what you pay attention to becomes your reality. If you watch and read the news all the time, you will become obsessed with the latest crises. If you watch and read about celebrities, your life will revolve around them. If you socialize on social networks all day long, this will...

Since my house has gone into vinyl mode over the past few months, I thought it might be interesting to share some images I found of what the grooves look like close up.

"Fiends and Ghosts"
Trying to finish this “demo” or whatever it should be considered. This recording project is taking its toll on me. It’s been a work in progress for too long now and we still have nothing to show for it.
Raph and I went in this morning to work on tracks and we still aren’t complete. I’m thinking it would have helped if I had touched a guitar since the last time we did...

Google \/\/ave notifications
Google has finally pushed an update to their Wave product that allows users to be notified via email for updates to waves that they follow. This was previously only possible with a separate extension which had certain reliability issues.

Dental hygienist
I was in to see my dentist today to get a filling done. My first real filling ever. My first time being “frozen in the mouth”. For the record, it wasn’t really my fault that a cavity formed, it was due to my rear molars being misaligned after my braces were removed a million years ago.
My mouth is still numb on my left side as I write this. I’m almost tempted to bite my...
