Wish list of writing implements (tbc…)

I’m in love with writing tools, weather they be pencils, lead holders, pens, fountain pens, felt tipped pens etc.  I have a few favorites including the Staedtler Mars 780, and my relatively new Lamy Safari, but I also have a few on my “to-buy” list.

Here’s a few that I want:

Lamy Scribble. The second from the top.

The Lamy scribble is my next pencil purchase I’m sure. It is a 3mm lead holder with a nice large body making it easy and natural to hold. I haven’t seen one in person, but I have an idea where I’ll be able to find it in Vancouver…

Lamy Joy. Calligraphy pen.

The Lamy Joy is a long slender calligraphy pen that I really want to get my hands on! I love the black with red highlights. It comes with a 1.1mm nib, but can also be replaced with other widths. I can’t wait to get one!! I’ll post some of my own photos when I do.

There is certainly something to be said about taking a pen (especially a fountain pen), and a piece of paper and writing a real letter to someone far away. It takes real effort to stop what you’re doing and focus directly on getting your ideas through your hands with a pen that kind of gets lost when you’re typing on a computer. I don’t mean “I’m too lazy to write anything with a pen and paper”, but taking the time to not be distracted by other things on your computer.  There are no tweets on your pad of paper, not “dings” or IM notices.  Just you and the paper, and I think that there is a real quality to sitting down and writing a letter all in one go. It reads more naturally, more “flowy” then a disconnected email that has spent time in your drafts folder.
I’d like to make it a challenge to all of you reading this to sit down and write a letter to someone whom even through the wicked advancements of facebook you don’t keep a real human connection with anymore. I can almost guarantee that you’ll feel great about it afterwards!
And if you don’t feel great, jut go back to facebook ‘cause you’re probably having FB withdrawl. You’re all dead to me anyways FTW!
Who am I kidding, you guys won’t try it anyways.

With a sunny first day of the week comes a task I’ve been putting off for a few weeks: getting my MacBook Pro fixed. The two internal fans used to keep this beast cool, mind you not too much cooler, have both ceased to operate. It makes me wonder why or how they both died at the same time. Hopefully the hundred and fifty to pay for it will be worth it. I can hardly imagine what my week will be like without it :(

Also today I finally send the letter I wrote to my English friend. (I with international stamps were easier to come by!). Her and I do the pen pal thing (with real pens and paper!). It’s super fun, but only when I write back promptly hey :p. I was wondering though, do any of you do the old school pen pal thing or has that gone to the wayside with all of these newer forms of communication?

Something about spring creeping in has made me love mornings again.
Maybe it’s the colours (although I am half colourblind), or maybe it’s the sun and heat that comes with it, or maybe it’s knowing that the school year is coming to a close next month. No, I think for me it’s becoming reaware of what things I enjoy about mornings!
I love morning routines! Err… love the idea of morning routines. I don’t do them often or regularly enough to call them a routine yet. I love the thought/idea/feeling of getting up to a small breakfast, making a coffee (or buying one since my espresso machine is biting the dust…), walking to school early in the morning sun and starting on a crossword puzzle or catching up on a few RSS feeds. After that I look forward to making an awesome brunch on my break with eggs and whatever else I can find in my kitchen.
Mornings should be the least stressful time of the day (for me) and I love keeping them that way!
What kind of things do you do in the morning to get you going?  Do you like mornings as much as me? (use comments if the answer field isn’t long enough!)
