Whiskerino

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if you combined social networking, photography and beards together, look no further than Whiskerino.

We are alienated from our own facial hair.Society tells us that full beards are unacceptable. Businessmen, politicians, bankers, and the like are all clean shaven; all demonstrating the standards that middle class society expects us to maintain.

The website is an awesome source of inspiration for those of us who love a good beard, but have a hard time staying motivated in letting it grow out to it’s full potential. As all children and parents know, a solid beard is a fundamental part of being a great and well respected father! All that is required in a great beard is belief that it is great… and maybe some good strong genes. Whiskerino’s rules are simple:

Shave completely clean, post images regularly, interact, participate in themes, be nice. Grow a massive beard.

If you think you can handle it, take a look yonder and behold the power of facial hair!

I’ve been using Fav4 for the past few months and really like it as a starting point for my web browsing. Basically it gives you list of included sites with which you can choose your “fav. 4” to use as your starting point. There are only two real issues with this.
Only 4 sites can be chosen.
Only sites supported by the service may be added.
The first gripe is really a feature (and shouldn’t come as a surprise), but for those who like a spring board to start their web surfing 4 sites may not be enough. As for the second concern, to make the site graphically pleasing they must have high-res images of the site’s logo to give Fav4 it’s beautiful interface.
For those who haven’t heard of Start.io, it serves a similar purpose but throws minimalism (pardon the pun) out the Windows. Start.io gives you a starting point and lets you add any site that you wish. It lets you create sections, customize colours, highlights sites with updates, choose themes, password protect your page, the list goes on. If you’re technically intimate with HTML you can even code your own layout.
I’ve got mine looking strangely similar to my current Tumblr theme. You can check out my start.io page at start.io/hugochisholm.
P.S. Share your .io page or any other springboard site you use in the comments section!

Feeding the fire

I’ve recently upgraded this site’s RSS to FeedBurner for all of the added bonus that comes with using it (both for me and for you). So check it out by clicking the RSS button on the left and subscribe to blog using your favourite reader.

Twistori

This is my new screensaver. It’s also a unique way to view twitter based on these the six words love, hate, think, believe, feel and wish. It’s entertaining if not really useful.

One nice thing is that it doesn’t eat up system resources to run it as a screensaver. I’ve tried some Twitter feed ‘savers that really put my computer into overdrive while it’s relaxing.

Give the original website a shot first to see what this is all about, then grab the screensaver once you’re done.

P.S. this is a Mac thing :)
